It is your destiny! This article contains content on an upcoming game. Beware of any potential spoilers!
Minibosses (also known as Midbosses or Sub-Bosses) are a common way to commemorate a landmark in stage progression, serving a bigger threat than the normal enemy, but still a smaller threat than the end of the stage (which often has a boss at the end of it, or at least a gauntlet of dangerous obstacles). Naturally, minibosses are a significant part of the MaGMML series, to the point of being more common than actual bosses in MaGMML1. Minibosses in the MaGMML games are split into only a couple of categories:
- Devkit minibosses, meaning that the miniboss was a default option available for use in the contest's level-making kit. However, not all of these are used as intended in the final game, so some go unused.
- Entry minibosses, meaning that the miniboss appeared custom-made for an entry.
- Other minibosses may potentially be custom-made for a game's Fortress stages or postgame areas. Examples of minibosses like these are rare, and are less of a category than the other two.
