- "An enemy infamous for being pretty annoying. It'll erratically try to home in on Mega Man, and it moves very quickly. Luckily, it has only 1 HP."
- ―Note in Blader's code, Megamix Engine
Blader is an enemy from the original Mega Man. It is a flying reconnaissance robot modified to attack enemies with divebombs.
Blader was first made available in the devkit for Make a Good Mega Man Level alongside every other Mega Man enemy, but wasn't used in any of the entry stages. It did, however, appear in the Wily stage Flashback Database (though Make a Good Mega Man Level Remastered omits it from its revised version), and the Shadow Morpher is able to transform into a Blader as one of its attacks.
Blader made substantially more appearances in Make a Good Mega Man Level 2, being used in Snow Man, Cardinal Man, Rush City, Something Original, Cursor Curse, Fortified Lab, and Escape Sequence. It also made an appearance in the Wily Star II stage Reality Core, and in the Pit of Pits sublevels "Cutman IRL", "Water Boat Fast", and "Wily's Cutting Edge Deja Vu". An unusually loquacious Blader also appears as an NPC in Tier 2, to the far left of Gigavolt Man.
In Make a Good Mega Man Level: Episode Zero, Bladers only appeared in Dispute Over Sawblades. The overly verbose Blader from MaGMML2 also reappears as an NPC in Mega City, semi-hidden away on the far left part of the hub.
Behavior
Flying in from the left or right of the screen, Blader slowly moves horizontally until it comes close to Mega Man. When it does, it will swoop up or down towards him before rising back up and pursuing him, repeating the cycle if it gets close enough again. Being a fast, airborne target, it can be difficult to hit with just the Mega Buster, but one shot is enough to destroy it.
By default, Bladers are green, but by setting "col = 1" in a Blader's creation code, it will turn blue.
