Golem
- For the Mount Sabre gimmick, see Golem (Mount Sabre)
The Golems are a set of five bosses found in Make a Good Mega Man Level: Episode Zero. They are large, mysterious combat robots of unknown origin, each with an elemental theme that matches those of the various chips Zero gathers over the course of the game. Each Golem is encountered on the world map, where they hover over a random level, and will change their location whenever the player completes a different level. While a Golem occupies a stage, that stage cannot be played until the Golem is defeated or moves elsewhere.
To fight a Golem, the player must touch it while it occupies a level, at which point a battle automatically ensues. They all share a similar set of attacks (such as an attack where they position their arms around Zero and shoot projectiles), some of which resemble Zero's own weapons when used with their respective chip element. After defeating a Golem, it drops an efficiency upgrade for its corresponding chip, decreasing its energy consumption and allowing it to be used for longer periods. Collecting all five of these upgrades and speaking to Dr. Hyde in Mega City will also unlock the Giga Crush for the Blank Drive.
The five Golems, and the requirements to make them appear, are:
- Cutter Golem - Appears after collecting 28 Energy Elements in Chapter 2 levels.
- Flame Golem - Appears after collecting 36 Energy Elements in Chapter 2 levels.
- Zap Golem - Appears after collecting 36 Energy Elements in Chapter 2 levels.
- Icicle Golem - Appears after collecting 36 Energy Elements across Chapter 2 levels and 6 Energy Elements across Chapter 3 levels.
- Psycho Golem - Appears after collecting 36 Energy Elements across Chapter 2 levels and 6 Energy Elements across Chapter 3 levels.
Of note, Construction of Constructions, Mojo Dojo, S.R.A.R.A. HQ, and Entrance to Tier X's Energy Elements don't count towards the total needed to make a Golem appear.
Notes
- The Golems originally hail from the Mega Man Zero series, with one Golem appearing as the first game's first boss, and three more Golems with fire, ice, and electric elements appearing in Mega Man Zero 2 as minibosses. In MaGMML: Episode Zero, however, the Golems are redesigned to better fit the Classic series' aesthetic.
- The Golems were implemented towards the end of Episode Zero's development; as a result, none of them are included in The Ultimate Choice's Soul Eraser difficulty, despite their prominence and higher-than-average difficulty.
- The only levels that a Golem cannot be encountered in are Explosive Freefall, the two hub areas, S.R.A.R.A. HQ, and all Chapter 3 levels.
- Curiously, Robot Ink Printing Facility has two different Golem "arena" screens. It is the only level with this distinction.
- Every Golem is semi-weak to the Z-Saber, Z-Burst, and Blank Drive of the chips that they are themed after.
