The Meteor is a gimmick in Mega Man 5, found in Star Man's stage. It is a small meteorite that falls from space, often alongside multiples of itself.

Meteors have achieved minor infamy for being the only major gimmick from the six NES games to be absent from the initial release of the Megamix Engine, and subsequently all devkits using it. However, they made their long-awaited debut as a custom gimmick in two Make a Good Mega Man Level: Episode Zero stages; first as a unique variant in Explosive Freefall, and in a more traditional form in Null and Void.

Behavior

In Explosive Freefall, Meteors fly up from the bottom of the screen in freefall sections while leaving a trail effect behind them. Though they can be destroyed, avoiding them is usually easier.

In Null and Void, Meteors behave more like their Mega Man 5 versions, and constantly fall down from the top of the screen. When crashing onto a solid surface, they create large, uniquely-sprited explosions that can damage Zero. These Metors can also be destroyed, with the Icicle Chip's Blank Drive perfectly shielding Zero from them while it is active.
