Make a Good Mega Man Level: Episode Zero (also known as MaGMML: Episode Zero or MaGMML EZfor short) is an upcoming interquel in the Make a Good Mega Man Level series, hosted by SnoruntPyro. Like its predecessors, the game will feature community-created levels, but new for the series, the entries will be collaborative rather than competitive; judged for quality prior to submitting, and featuring a larger focus on story starring Zero, the final boss of Make a Good Mega Man Level.

Current Information

  • The game will star Zero, between the events of the first and second contests, being employed by Dr. Wily to assist him in the studying of the Energy Elements, as well as confronting SRARA, a shady organization of robots who claim to be overseeing the safety of the upcoming contest festival.
  • Unlike his previous fights, Zero will have actual sprite animation, although there will be an option in the game settings to remove the character animation.
  • Zero will control differently from Mega Man, being able to use an air-dash, a ground-stomp which can be connected into a high-speed ground dash, and a double jump, which will be accessible much later in the game.
  • Zero's weaponry consists of the Zero Buster, a weak six-direction shot that can have a maximum of 4 bullets on screen. Alongside it is the Z-Saber, a close-range blade, and the Z-Burst, a spread shot of 5 larger bullets.
  • Zero will gradually gain Weapon Chips over the course of the game, which can augment his weapons and even change movement speed. These chips also grant access to the Blank Drive, a special attack unique to all chips save for the base Zero Chip. However, aside from the shared weapon energy, the chips have a meter of their own that will drain at various speeds, and the chips will be unusable if fully drained until the stage is completed or a checkpoint is reached.
  • Unlike previous games, the level select will operate much less like a hub stage, and more akin to the map of 'Super Smash Bros. Brawls Subspace Emissary mode, a large map that is freely accessible via cursor.
  • The game will also be split up into three chapters, Chapters 1 and 3 being linear and smaller in level count, while Chapter 2 will contain the bulk of the game's levels, split up into four separate paths.
  • Aside from Chips, Zero will have access to the Z-Phone, which will allow the player to contact key characters for additional dialogue depending on the level.

The game is currently in development, and the level submitting period has yet to end, so anyone curious are recommended to check out the official Episode Zero Discord for updates. However, the Discord is much more focused on the game than the official Discord for Make a Good Mega Man Level 3, and therefore the server is much more focused on development, so please stay on topic.
