The Wily Star II is Wily's latest base of operations. It contains the Reality Core, a device capable of tearing apart the fabric of reality itself, as well as some of Wily's most persistent creations yet devised.
The base is embedded atop a large asteroid, containing the minerals Wily needed to create the Reality Core in the first place.

Trivia
- Inner Sanctum was heavily modified after release in order to reduce its difficulty.
- Reality Core is the only level in the game that allows you to save partway through it, thanks in part to its sheer length.
- Once completed, the Wily stages can be accessed at the Dojo for future replaying, as well as to obtain any Noble Nickels that may have been missed on the first pass.
