"A springy boi that walks on ceilings and jumps up (down?) to stab Mega Man when above him."
―Note in Byouz's code, Megamix Engine

Byouz is an enemy from Mega Man V. It is a spring-loaded robot that walks on ceilings and attempts to stab enemies with the spike on its head.

Byouz was first present in the Megamix Engine, and thus appeared in the devkits for all games built with it. It made its game debut in Make a Good 48 Hour Mega Man Level, in the entry Flamecrush Forest. It went on to appear in Make a Good Mega Man Level 3; in the entry Falling System Core, the NEO Pit of Pits sublevels "Flip Flop Swap" and "Hoshi no Rockman", and the Shrine of Nebula room "Deconstruction Zone".

Behavior

Byouz walks constantly along a ceiling, turning around only when hitting a wall or (unlike in Mega Man V) an edge. If Mega Man is under them, they will jump straight up (down?) towards him in an effort to collide with him before continuing their walk.

How fast Byouz moves and how high (low?) it jumps can be changed with creation code.
