The Elec Block is a gimmick originating from the original Mega Man, appearing in Elec Man's stage. It is a block that periodically discharges a dangerous bolt of electricity.
Elec Blocks were first made available in the devkit for the original Make a Good Mega Man Level, and saw use in the entries Objective: Vain Space, Chroma Key, and Thunderclyffe Plant. In Make a Good Mega Man Level Remastered, it makes an additional appearance in the Wily stage Flashback Database.
Elec Blocks made a return in Make a Good Mega Man Level 2, and were used in the entries Gigavolt Man, Dragon Lab Lair, Something Original, Chomp Man, Elec Dam, Cursor Curse, Fortified Lab, and Cyber Man. It was also used in the Wily Star II stages Unobtainium Mine and Reality Core, the Pit of Pits levels "Mission: Vain Space?", "My Cool New Boss Fight", and "What a rush!", and Null and Void. It also appeared in Make a Good Mega Man Level: Episode Zero, in its own Null and Void.
Behaviour
Elec Blocks discharge a bolt of electricity to their right (or left, if the object is flipped in the editor), doing so at frequent intervals. With the release of the Megamix Engine, a variant of the Elec Block that can be rotated (aptly named "objElecBlockRotatable") is present; this can allow for vertical or diagonal discharges.
Both Elec Blocks have the following customizable variables:
- delay - The initial delay before firing when first spawned
- zapLength - How long the discharge is active for (by default it is set to 60)
- waitLength - How long the block waits after an electric discharge before creating another one (by default it is set to 60)
